Sitz Bath
What is a Sitz Bath?
A Sitz bath (hip bath) is a type of bath in which only the hips and buttocks are soaked in water or saline solution. The water may contain medication.
'Sitz' comes from the German verb "sitzen," meaning "to sit." It is used for those who have had surgery in the area of the rectum, or to ease the discomfort of hemorrhoids, uterine cramps, prostate infections, painful ovaries, and/or testicles. It is also used to ease discomfort from infections of the bladder, prostate, or vagina. Inflammatory bowel diseases are also treated with this method.
Alternatives
QLav is a computer-designed, ergonomic, medical-grade water delivery system for use by women and men of all ages to provide quick shower-quality personal hygiene anytime, anywhere. Q-Lav rinses away waste residues and paper fibers that can lead to irritation and discomfort. It does this with the gentle cleansing action of water. With light to moderate hand pressure, the Lav delivers a quick, specific-area shower, providing superior-quality cleansing while on the toilet, comparable to a traditional bidet or an automatic toilet seat.
Inflatable Bathes
The Sof Sitz Inflatable is a European tradition of hydrotherapy which increases the blood flow to the pelvic and abdominal regions. Used for both healing or hygiene purposes, the water can be warm or cool and may even contain medication. Soaking is sometimes recommended to soothe and promote healing after surgery or childbirth. But taking a bath might be too difficult, making the Sof Inflatable bath an appropriate alternative. It is made of heavy duty vinyl and is latex free. It's convenient design allows it to fit a standard toilet bowl (not the elongated style) once the seat is lifted.
