The Jamaican White Pages website, written only in English, is sponsored and powered by Infobel.com. On this website, people searches can be conducted by any of the following: last name; by parish (with a drop-down list to choose from) and/or location (by district, city or town). There are numerous links to other directories: pages, government (blue) pages, Cable & Wireless Caribbean Telephone Directory, Global Telephone Directories (web), Canada Pages, emergency numbers, and public utilities. Like the white pages, the Jamaican pages can be searched by type (with a drop-down list), name, location by parish (also with a drop-down list), and/or location by district, city or town. Government pages can be searched by name of institution, ministry name (with a drop-down list), location by parish (again with a drop-down list), and/or location by district, city or town. On the parent Infobel.com website, visitors can search any country in the world and look up international dialing codes in French, Spanish, Italian, German and Dutch. Infobel.com is a Belgian company that was founded in 1995 and created the first white pages ever published on the web. France was added to the site in 1997 and Spain was added in 1998. In 2001, the company launched the first pan-European and multi-lingual telephone directory, with 130 million telephone subscribers and 15 million businesses. |
