New People Search is an interesting search phrase because it is broad in scope and its meaning is unclear. Are those using such a phrase looking for new search engines? That's seems a bit unlikely as a new search engine would probably be less developed than one that has been tested thoroughly and well populated over a number of years. About.com lists 15 new free people search engines: Pipi, Facebook, Wink, Peekyou, yoName, LinkedIn, Riya, Friendster, Spock, Zoom, Explode, The Internet Address Book, Socialgrapes, Copenda and Naymz. Pipi claims to return more than the usuall contact information as it seraches across social networks, search engines and the like to find morsels allegedly not indexed by search engines.
New Find People services are migrating toward social websites liked Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. There are search services which search only social sites for names of your choosing. One very useful such service which emails notices to you when the data you seek has been found on the Internet is Google's Alerts. Establish a Google account and subscribe to service. Just enter a key word, a key-word phrase or a name and if/when Google's spider finds a match, you'll receive an email notice from Google letting you know exactly where to go to view the information and they even provide an active hyperlink for you to click and go to the destination.
Another new type of people finder is the format used by Yahoo Answers and Answers.com (as two examples). These services provide the software which allows users to ask and answer questions online. Most questions and answers are archived which makes it possible to search the archives for people's names. Granted people aren't the main focus of most questions asked, but nonetheless the historical record of Q&A is well populated with names of individuals and businesses.
