Piles or Hemorrhoids

External Piles - What Are Piles?

External anal piles are protrusions from the rectum which are caused by an inflammation of the anal walls within the anus. Mild cases appear as one or more small protruding bulbs. Basically all swellings or protruding masses at or near the anal opening are considered to be external (except in the case of prolapsed internal piles which originate internally but can protrude for the aunus externally as they worsen).

Piles Symptoms - Bleeding Piles

The most alarming symptom is anal bleeding - blood observed in the stool, in the commode or on clothing. This is one of the most critical of symptoms because it can also be a symptom of rectal cancer. When anal blood is observed it's advisable to see a doctor (specialist: proctologist). Better safe than dead.

Rectal itching is maybe the most annoying of the symtoms but this seems to most often caused by the anal area being moist and/or soiled, so keeping the anal area clean and dry will mostly relieve itching. Sometimes it takes heavier weapons when piles flair up, so call on a good anti-itch cream or ointment like hydrocortisone (1%, not .5%). That usually provides fast relief - much better than Preparation H.

Pictures of Piles

Pictures of piles are readily available by searching Google for the same, however, searching for images of piles also returns picture results of other types of 'piles' like 'posts'. A better search is for piles pictures because piles are better known as hemorrhoids. The illustrative pictures aren't so bad but some of the real pictures are pretty gruesome.

Cure for Piles

'Cure' may be somewhat of a misnomer. There are various attempts to make symptoms go away. Often best cure is nature because piles often disappear by themselves, particularly if the host will refrain from things that irritate them like caffeine, spices, heavy lifting, straining during bowel movements, avoid constipation - kinda like a pulled muscle - give it a rest. Sometimes it can't be helped like when you're pregnant. Pregnancy and piles seem to go together. The extra weight of the uterus and lots of sitting help cause the condition.

'Anul Piles'

The are some down right laughable gimmicks on the Internet like 'frozen anul cryrogenic devices' - nothing more than a piece of plastic that you're encouraged to keep in your freezer and apply PRN. Then there's the notion that rubbing some 'miracle oil' on the bottom of your feet will cause the pain in your butt to go away. Some of these ridiculous recommendations have been around for a while - not necessarily because they work but because the purveyors have managed to garner a sufficient amount of website visitors of which a certain percentage is willing to try anything to get relief.

Home Cures for Piles

This infliction is of course one to be kept to ones self and if at all possible, to treat at home. Ointments and 'frozen devices' are a bit messy. Don't know where you're supposed to put the miracle oil and it's highly questionable if these thing 'cure' anything. The condition is caused by inflammation so curing the cause should get rid of the symptoms. The Chinese, Indians and many others have spent hundreds of years devining the medicinal effects of herbs and herbal extracts. They have found that Horse Chestnut Seed (standardized - 20% Aescin), micronized purified Flavonoid Complex (from lemons and grape seeds containing OPCs Diosmin and Hesperidin), and Gotu Kola (Centella asiatica) have provided relief. These are the primary ingredients in our Piles Treatment.
